Candidates Talk About Economy

AUGUSTA, Maine - All five candidates for Governor have met separately with the Maine Development Foundation and the Maine State Chamber to review their policy paper on economic development.  The dozen areas highlighted by the group are not new.

MDF President Laurie LaChance says the dozen recommendations range from holding down health care and energy costs to investing more in higher education. Goals both groups have advocated for years. She says the candidates have responded well to the study.

The policy paper is titled Making Maine Work. She says it is the result of a year-long research and survey project of over a thousand state business leaders on the factors affecting private sector investment in Maine and how to grow Maine’s economy.
