FRANCONIA, New Hampshire - A Maine man is lucky to be alive after he broke his snowshoes and had to be rescued in New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest.
WMUR reports 24-year-old Evan Embry, of Buxton, became trapped in deep snow on Franconia Ridge yesterday. Two rescuers located Embry by tracking his cell phone.
They brought him a new set of snow shoes, and the trio battled winds of up to 50 miles per hour and near white-out conditions as they made their way back down the mountain.
