WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Obama is applauding the latest jobs report, calling it "more good news" on the economy.
The national unemployment rate dropped to eight-point-three percent in January as 243-thousand jobs were added. It was eight-point-five percent in December.
In Maine, the unemployment rate in December was seven percent. Cumberland County had the lowest rate at five-point-three percent and Somerset County the highest at nine-point-eight percent.
The figures for January will not be released until mid-March.
