Ian Ziering and Tara Reid have officially signed on for the sequel to TV movie phenomenon “Sharknado.”

The actors both experienced a career boost when the 2013 disaster film became a break-out hit, and now the stars, who played a former couple in the original, are reteaming for the New York-set follow-up.

Ziering will reprise his role as Fin Shepard and Reid will be back as April Wexler.

In Sharknado 2, the gang moves from Los Angeles to the Big Apple, where yet another freak natural disaster unleashes a rain of killer sharks, and Ziering and Reid’s characters become the only ones able to save the citizens of New York City.

Last July (13), the made-for-TV movie took America by storm as thousands of fans and critics alike took to Twitter.com to talk about the film as it debuted, helping to make it an unlikely success.

Production on the sequel begins next month.
