Actor Forest Whitaker is set to receive the Chairman’s Award at the 45th annual NAACP Image Awards next month.

The ‘Lee Daniels’ The Butler” star will be feted for his humanitarian work on Feb. 22 in Pasadena, California.

Announcing the news, Roslyn M. Brock, the chairman of the NAACP National Board of Directors, says, “Forest Whitaker embodies the moniker of artist/activist. His work in front of and behind the camera engages and entertains, and his service to communities around the world is truly inspirational. It is my honor and privilege to recognise Mr. Whitaker with the Chairman’s Award.”

It could be a really big night for Whitaker as he has also been nominated for an Outstanding Actor honor for his role in “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” which leads all nominations with eight nods.
