Mother Whose Toddler Swallowed Drugs Sentenced

AUGUSTA, Maine -   The mother of a toddler who swallowed a stash of cocaine will spend three months in jail.

Twenty-two-year-old Jillian Jones, of Bingham, was sentenced yesterday after pleading guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and drug possession.  Jones called 911 last June to report her 18-month-old daughter had found and eaten her cocaine and was not breathing.

The baby recovered and is not expected to suffer any lasting effects.
